News and More I want to share a gift I just recently finished for a friend. This is a hand painted and decorated wood keepsake box. On the front is my interpretation of a favorite photo my friend shared with me of a Gypsy Vanner horse. I then made the box something I felt might just have come from a gypsy's caravan. The inside is gold paint and handmade decorative paper. In addition to the horse painting on the outside, I added gold paint and imprinted the roses with a rubber stamp. Here are a couple photos.
I can make custom box for you or as a special gift for a friend. Prices start at $65.
I just received news that two of the pieces I submitted to the juried show, The Art Show At The Dog Show in Wichita, KS have been accepted. They are "Late Arrival" , 20 x 24" oil on canvas of a sheltie and "Did You Call ?" 16 x 20" oil on board of a whippet. Both paintings are for sale. "Did You Call?" will soon be available as a limited edition print.
I was commissioned to do a mural at Sanford Veterinary Hospital in their new ICU room and here is the result:
I am also delighted to announce an exciting project for me for 2006-2007..... brand new studio space. Construction was recently completed and I moved in during the first week of February, 2007. This project was funded in part by the ARTS COUNCIL OF FAYETTEVILLE/CUMBERLAND COUNTY through a grant. Thank you. I also want to thank my father, Jerry Sovereign, my brother Dennis Sovereign , and my son, Aaron Cole, for doing such a wonderful job on this project.
Here are some
photos of the progress:
This is the north wall of my garage building. It is a 4 car garage and the north end will be converted to my new studio.
The first step was to install a large window in the north end of the garage for that wonderful north light so valuable for painting.
Here we are taking out the overhead garage doors.
The dividing wall
on the inside is installed and I got the job of tacking up tarpaper on the
insides of all the exterior walls in preparation for the insulation.
Over several weeks,
on weekends, the guys got the front finished with another window and door
installed.
We had been blessed with wonderful warm weather this winter, so on a couple bright sunny days, I was able to get the front painted. Over the New Years weekend, the guys got all the insulation installed and the opening in the back wall prepared for the installation of the heating and air conditioning unit.
Here are a few interior shots of the space. I have moved in and I love working from my beautiful new studio.
The sign has been hung........
