Watercolor portraits are done on the highest quality watercolor paper and the paints used are professional grade to ensure the best possible light fastness and color quality. A simple complementary color background is included in the base price. Special scenery or backgrounds will increase portrait price depending on complexity. Oil portraits are considered top of the line classics and are painted on stretched canvas with fine quality professional oil paints. I will choose a simple complimentary colored background or you may upgrade with special scenery, interior or exterior. I can do virtually any size so let me work with you in choosing what will work for your animal and in your home. I will be happy to give you a price quote for your piece, but basic prices* for one animal, oil on canvas are shown below. For those of you who prefer the simple elegance of a drawing, I offer portraits done in graphite on a cream color strathmore paper. Each drawing is unique and detailed. The drawing is then finished with a fixative spray to keep from smudging. Like a watercolor, they must be matted and framed under glass.

Portraits will be done from your quality photographs. The quality of your photgraph is critical for me to capture a satisfactory likeness of your dog. if we are doing a major piece, you may want to consider me traveling to your home to photograph your animal. Travel expenses to be paid by the client.
Whe you order a portrait from me, you are getting the real thing, a hand painted, carefully planned depiction of your special animal. It is done the old fashioned way..... drawing and painting.
